DRIVING CHANGE - ONE COMMUNITY AT A TIME

IN A WORLD WHERE ENTREPRENEURSHIP OFTEN SEEMS LIKE A PRIVILEGE OF THE WELL-CONNECTED, HADEER SHALABY IS REWRITING THE NARRATIVE

As the visionary founder of Freeziana and Crafty Workshop, Hadeer has made it her mission to extend opportunity to Egypt's underserved communities. Her latest initiative, the Innovation Bus, is a bold stride toward empowering women and youth through mobile learning, equipping them with the skills and tools to forge their own paths in creative industries.

Under Hadeer's leadership, the Innovation Bus, which launched in partnership with the Sonaa El Khier Foundation and funded by E-Finance Group, stands as a testament to what can be achieved when innovative thinking meets unwavering commitment to social impact.

BRINGING SKILLS TO THE MARGINS: A VISION ROOTED IN EMPOWERMENT

At its core, the Innovation Bus is more than just a mobile classroom—it’s a movement designed to transform lives. Traveling to remote villages and border regions where access to education and employment is scarce, the bus focuses on building creative and technical skills in areas like arts, crafts, design, animation, photography, and even AI. By doing so, it not only provides tools for professional growth but also plants seeds of confidence and independence in communities often overlooked.

Hadeer, a staunch advocate for women’s empowerment, sees the bus as a way to address systemic barriers that women in these regions face.

The Innovation Bus isn’t just about learning skills; it’s about creating opportunities for women to take charge of their futures. It’s about fostering a mindset that says, ‘You can build something amazing, no matter where you come from.
— HADEER SHALABY

HOW THE INNOVATION BUS WORKS

This ambitious project is driven by practicality and accessibility. Partnering with local NGOs, associations, and businesses, the bus organizes interactive training sessions for up to 12 individuals at a time, each lasting 15–20 minutes. The mobile nature of the program ensures that even the most isolated learners can participate.

Learners engage in hands-on training using personalized kits and offline resources, ensuring that lack of internet access does not become a barrier. Additionally, the bus connects participants to the Crafty Workshop platform, an innovative digital hub that offers advanced courses and mentorship to continue their journey.

The results are promising: with the capacity to serve 400–500 beneficiaries per trip, the Innovation Bus has become a lifeline for those who seek to redefine their futures, many of whom are women entering creative industries for the first time.

SCALING UP: A PAN-AFRICAN VISION

Hadeer’s ambitions for the Innovation Bus don’t stop at Egypt’s borders. With plans to expand across Africa, the initiative is poised to address the digital divide and foster creativity on a continent bursting with untapped talent. These mobile learning centers will empower individuals in marginalized regions with the tools to succeed in industries like arts, crafts, digital media, and AI, creating pathways to economic independence.

“We’re not just teaching skills,” Hadeer asserts. “We’re creating a new generation of changemakers—individuals who can uplift their families, their communities, and their nations.”

THE POWER OF FEMALE-LED INNOVATION

The Innovation Bus reflects Hadeer’s broader philosophy: women are not just beneficiaries of development; they are its drivers.

Her leadership shines as an example of how female founders can harness the power of entrepreneurship to create tangible social change. By focusing on the intersection of education, creativity, and empowerment, Hadeer is proving that the future of entrepreneurship is both inclusive and transformative.

Her story is a call to action for stakeholders, investors, and advocates of female empowerment: to join hands in scaling this groundbreaking initiative and unlocking the potential of millions of women and youth across Egypt—and eventually, across Africa. In doing so, we not only bridge gaps in access and opportunity but also champion the resilience, creativity, and innovation that women like Hadeer embody.
